With just half of UK employees receiving a pay rise last year, according to figures from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, business owners are trying to find other ways to boost morale at the workplace. This could be a case of focusing on staff development, organising a team-building day or just making small gestures to make staff feel valued in the day to day life of the business. How do you keep staff engaged and motivated when money is tight?
Completely depends on your business, size and attitude. However money is a great motivator but when money is tight a great way to motivate and boost morale is by getting your employees more involved in the action of the business not just their day to day tasks. As a small startup that would work great but it depends entirely on your size - much easier to motivate 10 people than 50 - 100.
