Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone could answer or help me with the following questions.
I've set up a business with a friend as a partnership, we will look to become limited, but thats in the future, so for the moment we would like to know...
Can we still register the company? (this will enable us to gain a registered number, and set up google checkout, as well as other bits and bobs!)
If so, how, and where would we go about this?
Also, can we register the company name, for the purpose of protecting ourselves for the future?
Many thanks in advance for any help recieved! :-)
Hi
If you are thinking of operating through a limited company in the future and you are anxious to protect the name then you might wish to consider incorporating a company now. You can check whether a particular name is available from the companies house website. If you wish to go ahead and incorporate the company then there are any number of companies that will do this for you at a low cost.
So long as the company remains dormant then it is relatievly inexpensive to maintain the company as dormant company accounts may be filed. Costs will increase once the company undertakes any activity ie google checkout etc
I know little of Google Checkout - is there a requirement that you must be a limited company? - this does seem quite restrictive for sole traders/partnerships?
Hi and thanks for your reply.
After discussions with a few people, we've decided to register as a limited partnership from the offset.
I've been looking at various registration companies, but ill start a new thread on that.
With regards to google, you need to provide one of three bits of info when registering for Google Checkout.
See link http://checkout.google.com/support/sell/bin/answer.py?answer=25402&hl=en_GB
I'd rather go down the route of using the companies house registration number, so its a case of getting that set up.
Thanks for your information.
