If you managed to catch it, did last night's televised C4 debate between Alistair Darling, Vince Cable and George Osborne change your mind about which political party and would-be Chancellor is best placed to manage the UK economy out of the current mire?
Well, the good news is that I managed to stay awake right through it.
Summary?
Darling - probably a decent contender but was left a terrible econoimic legacy by Brown and is suffering because of it. The astonishing mess that Labour's tax and (over)spend policies have yet again (remember 1979?) delivered seriously weakens his and the government's case.
Osbourne - credibility rising rapidly and stood his ground well against Darling & Cable. Whether or not he can deal with the true legacy of the current government remains to be seen (if he gets in, of course) and continues to be an area that voters remain unsure of. With Clarke as his right hand man, they would make a fomidable combination of youth and experience at No. 11.
Cable - Uncle Vince did a stirling job. By far the best on the night. If he was under a blue flag, he'd be a shoe-in. Been calling the recession absolutly bang on right through. His impact is probably limited by LibDem wishy-washiness and lightweight policies but in the event of a hung parliament, he'll quickly become a major player. (Could do with a decent hair cut though eh?)
