Is anybody out there a franchisee? What factors governed your decision to buy into a franchise as opposed to starting your own business from scratch? Are you happy with your decision or does part of you wish you had created a business in your own image, perhaps this might have been a more fulfilling challenge? Has anybody had a particularly bad experience with buying into a franchise? Maybe you've successfully turned your business into a franchise and can share some tips? Thanks...
I took on an HR Dept franchise in November. After weighing it up compared to going it alone it seemed a far less lonely and less scary way of setting up my own business. The brand name and imagery is stronger than anything I would have come up with, there is support from the central office and the other franchisees, and yet the successof the business in my area is still completely down to me, which provides the challenge and fulfillment. The brand values and goals completely fit with my own, which is really important for a successful franchise to work.
Became franchisee of Utility Warehouse. The decision to do this was that I didn't want to become someone who works for 40yrs in same job and retires, I wanted to take risks and become as successful as possible. The great hook with UW was that for initial low investment you have the opportunity to make residual income to go alongside your full-time job. So even at present when I am very busy and have had to leave any work on UW, I can go back to it ant any stage. Also the other major plus was that I can save people money so don't have to hard sell anyone...it's not like I'm selling a hot tub or anything!
