Key issues you have faced starting up - advice please??

Hi all,

I have just started helping develop an initiative to grow creative business (artists, architects, theatre groups, designers mainly) in disused buildings - what I would really like to know, is what are the key issues you have faced starting up, and as importantly, if you had had some business development help, what would could you have really done with??

Any comments or responses would be really fantastic - I am really keen to make this project work!!

http://www.inafishbowl.com follows 3 start up business through blogs, videos and Twitter. They document everything - the good, the bad and the ugly! So there's loads on there about the start-ups and the issues they have faced so far. With the 3 businesses being so different and the people involved so diverse, there are a lot of different opinions on there too which are really interesting.
