Has your business ever placed an advert in a newspaper of magazine? How many sales did it generate? Loads? None? Is traditional advertising no longer worth the time, money or effort? Perhaps it provides superb results for your business? Have we all become a little too concerned with online advertising at the expense of offline alternatives?
To start the ball rolling, I would say that offline advertising is not a waste of time. I agree that the local paper or Yellow Pages has had its day in some industries but it isn't dead yet.
Some of our clients have come as a result of adverts in village magazine publications that has then got that important first client from there. From then we were able to secure word of mouth recommendations.
Perhaps we are as guilty as others in pushing an online presence to the detriment of offline advertising though. For the effort required and the actual/potential returns, it can seem like a lot of work is being done for nothing sometimes. That said, with the pace of social media, sites that are en vogue and evolving SEO methods you don't always have too much choice and can get quickly left behind.
