PO BOX address - Good or bad choice?

Hi,

Just wondering what people's thoughts were on PO BOX addresses. I have registered the business at my home address but not sure I am comfortable with the day to day correspondence coming to my home (which is where I am based)
I don't think I want lots of people knowing where I live.

Have been reading a few forums and threads about PO BOX addresses and there are mixed opinions as to whether they are good or not - whether it looks like a business is hiding behind something.

I want to look professional also which another address other than my home would provide.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jo

For total transparency and trust I always use my home address which is also the base for my really small business.

Reasoning? I do nothing wrong and am totally honest + I design websites and do social media, seo, Google adwords and so on - Google rank me well as I have my address on each web page or blog post.

I had an MBE PO Box when I first came back to England from the United States and in Google Local searches an MBE address shows "also at this address" on some searches.

I like my own address :)

Hello Jo

I have used a PO Box as didn't want my home address listed - I don't think people would be put off by it - you could always on the contact page explain why you are using a PO Box - for safety, not hiding! People like honesty...

I use a virtual office now (eOffice) so my post gets sent there, which suits me better than anything else I've tried.

Good luck

Kerry

If you are concerned about privacy, you should note Royal Mail reserve right to disclose the PO Box Holder's address and publish it- See section on disclosure of information_ http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=600006&mediaId=600043.

Hi Jo

I provide a mailbox service which will provide your business with a correspondence address. It looks a lot more professional than a PO Box address and tends to be cheaper. I can also forward the mail to you if required. Please see my website www.lssecretarialltd.co.uk for details and please contact me if you are interested.

Try a Mailbox with MBE. You get a real street address and your business will come up higher on google searches in your home town as the MBE is usually near the centre. The service is far more flexible in many ways. See www.mbe.co.uk
