Website launch offers firms free training resources

Employers struggling to afford staff training can now access free advice and discounted training courses, following the launch of a new website aimed at small firms.

Produced by training provider Knowledge Pool, Mytrainingexpert.com includes details of more than 5,000 reduced-price training courses on topics ranging from management and customer service, to finance and marketing. Courses are available in a range of formats from e-learning and training videos, to webinars and formal qualifications.

Users can search the site by subject and see an overview of each training course, as well as the benefits, the dates and duration, the locations, the provider and the price.

As well as course listings, the website also includes a free training library, which allows users to browse articles and tips on training management, and white papers on specific topics such as e-learning. Small firms can also download a range of record-keeping forms, designed to make it easier to keep track of learning progress.

Membership is required in order to browse the discounts available on courses, but until January 2010 small firms can sign up to the website for free.

"Small businesses need to be able to provide their staff with best of breed learning and development, but many can't afford to run their own training function," said MyTrainingExpert.com managing director, Lindsay Grieve.

"This new site allows them to have their own training department online," she added. "It's where they can get unbiased advice on all aspects of training, at no cost, as well as access to vetted courses from top providers at a lower price than they could buy directly."
