Andrew is Chief Executive of Youth Business International (YBI) and leads the global network’s efforts to help more young entrepreneurs start up in business. He is an expert on youth entrepreneurship around the world and works closely with YBI members on issues such as resourcing, operations and governance.
He focuses particularly on the strategic development of the global network and initiating and managing complex multi-stakeholder relationships across the world. Prior to joining YBI in 2005, Andrew spent 18 years in investment banking, most recently as a managing director at Goldman Sachs.
Each year, YBI runs the YBI Entrepreneur of the Year competition. It aims to highlight and celebrate the important contributions that young entrepreneurs make to society through creating jobs and bringing new products and services to communities. The competition, run in partnership with Barclays, is structured to recognise the achievements of young entrepreneurs of all types and sizes across the world, from multinational businesses with a million dollar turnover to small environmental start ups with great ideas.
YBI is the host of Global Entrepreneurship Week in the UK, in partnership with Barclays. The theme for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012, which runs from 12-18 November, is 'pass it on' and the week will see around 3,000 events take place, involving approximately 270,000 people.
